A Psychotic Xmas as the Turnbuckles prevail
Jesse the Intruder of the Psychotic Turnbuckles
The Kings of The Combat Zone, the Psychotic Turnbuckles, returned to Sydney from Pismo Beach last Saturday night for a one-off Xmas show, presented by the I-94 Bar.
They were joined by Melbourne's Stoneage Hearts and Sydneysiders The Prehistorics in a no-holds-barred tag-team contest at Marrickville's Factory Floor. Shona Ross captured these images as the Turnbuckles triumphed in front of a packed house. Click more to see the images.
The Prehistorics have been slogging away on the Australian circuit for a decade or more with their high-energy Detroit-styled jams and have two European tours under their belts. Mainman Brendan Sequeira is now based in France and this was a one-off appearance by the Aussie line-up. It was eargely lapped up by the faithful.
The Stoneage Hearts are from Melbourne and are at the top of the garage-powerpop tree in this country. Led by only original member Mick Baty and armed with a killer set of catchy tunes, they were playing their first Sydney gig with this line-up.
The Psychotic Turnbuckles were playing their first gig in a year and flew in especially from California's Pismo Beach. A man down because El Siccodelico was detained by Border Force, they blitzed their way through a bracket of high-energy classics.
