Beating on the BRAT FARRAR

Bratt Farrar live promo

Connoisseurs of underground garage punk and punk wave will be familiar with Melbourne’s BRAT FARRAR and they’re back in the saddle with a new release looming.

“Tower of Lies” is the digital single that hits all streaming services on November 7 as the precursor to the album “GROUP” released in February 2026 via Beast Records (France), Take The City Records (Spain) and Ghost Highway Records (Spain). Recorded by Idge at Soundpark, ‘GROUP” was mastered by the ubiquitous Mikey Young.

We've had a preview of "Tower of Lies" and it's a searing piece of steamroller punk rock. Pre-save it on Spotify here.

Chris Bailey's final Saints album out on November 28

saints final packshot

Two new tracks from the final Saints record, “Long March Through The Jazz Age”, have been released and the album will be out on November 28 on Fire Records.

“Long March Through the Jazz Age” is the last recorded work by Chris Bailey and The Saints. It’s a moving farewell - a testament to a restless, uncompromising artist who always moved forward, one of rock’s great lyricists and iconoclasts.

You can stream the new tracks, “Gasoline” and “Carnivore (Long March Through the Jazz Age)” here. The CD or LP can be pre-ordered here.

Songs Josh Lord taught us

and now is the twilightAnd Now Is The Twilight Of Our Empire – Josh Lord (Music The Lord Taught Us)

It’s three songs and digital only. Produced by Loki Lockwood of Spooky Records. The eponymous title track, then “I Can No Longer Remember The Future” and “The Warm Embrace of Machine”.

What we have here might initially strike you as some very cleverly manipulated drone. However, “drone” is, along with terms like “ambient”, “post-punk” and “industrial”, an incredibly misleading descriptor.

Word on the street is that Angel Face rules on second album

out in the streetOut In The Street – Angel Face (Slovenly Recordings)

Catchier than the Tokyo subway, “Out In The Street” is the second album for Tokyo’s Angel Face, and any fan of Real Kids or The Boys needs a copy – pronto. It’s 10 songs of no-nonsense, melodic street punk that the world deserves to hear.

I caught these guys in the flesh at the Tokyo Halloween Ball a couple of years ago and they were impressive over a weekend that delivered an embarrassment of riches. That may have been one of their earliest gigs because Angel Face have only been around a few years.

They’ve already put another long-player, a European festival date and a short US tour under their belts. Hercules (vocals), Fink (guitar), Toyozo (bass) and Rayco (drums) have the Japanese work ethic and their productivity would put most of their overseas contemporaries in a cardiac ward.

Everyone's a winner as the Psychotic Turnbuckles don their title belt for Festive slamfest

xmas buckles webIt’s not easy being the Kings Of The Combat Zone. You’re living in the lap of luxury in Pismo Beach. There’s champagne to be sipped, caviar to be eaten, and a stream of adoring and beautiful women won’t leave them alone.

Every December, the Psychotic Turnbuckles remember their beginnings in the cruel and shallow money trench called the music business. It was more than 40 years ago when they were banned from the Pismo Beach Wrestling Alliance and landed in Sydney, Australia.

It’s tradition now that each year, The Undefeated Champions jump onto private jets and return to Australia for a Festive Spectacular. The 2025 ringside action occurs at Marrickville Bowling Club on Saturday, December 13 and tickets are here.

These humble giants of rock and roll wrestling think of it as a small gesture for the fans.

Jesse The Intruder’s little helpers this year will be The Dark Clouds and The Sugar Beats. The honour of playing with these Immortals was something both bands could not pass up.

This year, every advance ticketholder will receive a present at the door.

Don’t leave things to chance. Who knows what you’ll miss when the Psychotic Turnbuckles lay waste to Dull City one more time?
