groovies 2017 lineup

The Flamin' Groovies have announced three new US tour dates in July, all in Northern California, as well as a change of line-up.The band's new rhythm section is Chris von Sneidern (“CvS”) on bass guitar and Tony Sales on drums. Longtime bassist George Alexander and Victor Penalosa appear to have stood down.

CvS is a well-known San Francisco musician with several acclaimed albums, and was the subject of the 2009 documentary, "Why Isn’t Chris von Sneidern Famous?". Tony is the son of Tony Sales and nephew of Hunt Sales (who together formed the famous rhythm section in David Bowie’s band, Tin Machine, and recorded and toured with Iggy Pop and Todd Rundgren, among others).

All three CA shows will be supported by Matt Hollywood & the Bad Feelings, featuring members of the Brian Jonestown Massacre and The Warlocks.

July 27- Harlow’s – Sacramento, CA;
July 28 - Don Quixote’s Music Hall – Felton (Santa Cruz), CA; and
July 29- The Chapel – San Francisco, CA

The gigs are a warm-up for the Groovies’ forthcoming tours, which will take them to the East Coast in August, Europe in September, and the Midwest in October, in support of their soon-to-be-released new album on the band’s own Sonic Kicks Records.

The band also has a split single coming out soon  on The Flamin 'Groovies play "Don't Talk To Strangers" (a cover of the Beau Brummels) paired with The Lookers ("Pictures on the Wall ").
