Cosmic Psychos guitarist Mad Macka has announced a run of shows with him double-billed with legendary Los Angeles figure Pat Todd.

Pat Todd is best known as front man for hugely influential rock'n'roll-punk band The Lazy Cowgirls from the early '80s to the early '00s, and more recently for his great high energy rock'n'roll band Pat Todd & The Rankoutsiders.

Pat Todd will also be playing Geelong’s River Rocks festival (alongside C.O.F.F.I.N., Cable Ties, The New Christs, The Meanies and more) at the Barwon Club on Saturday, 18 November, and as a special guest at two of the three Cosmic Psychos 40th Anniversary Shows at the Palais in Castlemaine, VIC, on Saturday Dec 2 and Sunday December 3.

Inbetween, Pat and Macka will play a number of intimate shows together in Victoria, NSW, Qld and SA:

Pat Todd is a long-time friend of the Cosmic Psychos, and Macka has been a Pat Todd fan since his teenage years, when he and bothers Richard and Jaws Stanley formed their own seminal punk band in Brisbane in the early 90s, The Onyas.

The Onyas were just one of a host of bands Australian bands who were Cowgirls' fans - others included The Powder Monkeys, Hoss, Asteroid B6-12, The Dirty Lovers, Blood Sucking Freaks, Exploding White Mice, Celibate Rifles and of course the Psychos.

The Cowgirls inspired a late '80s/early 90s resurgence of classic '70s Ramones/Saints/Johnny Thunders & the Heartbreakers-style punk rock'n'roll that stretched right around the world and included bands like The MuffsThe SupersuckersThe New Bomb Turks and Nashville Pussy in the US and Teengenerate in Japan.

The tour will be the first time Australian audiences will see Pat Todd in the flesh - his Stonesy/Johnny Thunders-style country-tinged rock'n'roll lends itself perfectly to the acoustic format - and will provide a rare opportunity to see Macka do his own solo acoustic thing.

The shows will follow the release of a new album by Pat Todd & The RankoutsidersSons of the City Ditch, out internationally October 13 on Melbourne's resurgent Dog Meat Records.

Todd formed Pat Todd & The Rankoutsiders in the mid-'00s, after the demise of the Cowgirls, and they are loved the world over for their riotous sound that mixes classic ‘70s punk rock with country, blues and rock'n'roll that sits somewhere in between the Rolling Stones' “Exile On Main Street” and the Ramones' “Road To Ruin” album.
