Festival shows in Europe beckon in-between, including a show at Spain’s prestigious Azkena fest, which was the stage for a reformation by the classic line-up of the Screaming Tribesmen in 2012.
A catalyst for all this activity was the unplugged appearance by the Dubrovniks at the I-94 bar-promoted Blood Bank benefit for Lime Spider Mick Blood in Sydney last year.
The Dubrovniks began in Sydney in 1986. Featuring members of The Scientists, Hoodoo Gurus and Beasts of Bourbon, they were hailed as a sort of inner city “supergroup” with three lead singers and a local legend on drums.
Their first single “Fireball of Love” went straight to number one in the Australian independent charts and their first album “Dubrovnik Blues” (1989) was nominated for an ARIA award. The eclectic mix of songs and styles gained them many fans across Australia and Europe.
